Privacy
Watch the Details is a set of static reference pages. There are no accounts and no cookies; the only personal data we receive is what any web host logs and what you choose to email us.
Who is responsible
The operator of Watch the Details is responsible for the data described here. Contact details will be published when a mailbox is ready.
Server logs
Like any website, the pages are delivered by a hosting provider whose servers record each request: the IP address, the page address (including anything after a question mark), the time, the browser’s user agent and the referring page. These logs are used to deliver the site, keep it secure and find errors. They are kept for the provider’s standard retention period and are not combined with other data to identify you.
Cookies and analytics
The site sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising scripts. Fonts are served from the site itself, not from a third party. If we add privacy-friendly visit counts later, this section will say what is counted and, where the law requires it, ask before anything is stored on your device. The date at the top of this page will change when it does.
Site search and tools
Search and the calculators run in your browser. The search index is downloaded once and your typing is matched on your device. Tools keep their inputs in the page address, such as a wrist size, so a result can be shared as a link; that address reaches the host’s logs like any other page request. Calibration for true-size drawings is stored only in your browser’s local storage, and you can clear it there.
Emails you send
If you write to us, we receive your address, your message and anything you attach. We use them to answer and to correct the reference, and delete the message once the matter is closed, unless it documents a correction, in which case we keep the part that does (the source, not your address). We do not add you to any list.
Links to other sites
Footnotes link to makers’ documents and other sources. Those sites have their own privacy practices; when you follow a link, we pass no information about you beyond what your browser sends by itself, and our source links ask the browser not to send the referring page.
Your rights
You can ask what we hold about you (in practice, only emails you sent), ask us to correct or delete it, or object to its use. A working contact address will be listed here before the site accepts email. You may also complain to your local data protection authority. See also the terms of use.
